IWC’s Caliber 8521 originally came into production post-war, in 1952. Featuring the Pellaton winding system which was a new and extremely efficient movement system for perpetual automatic wristwatch movements. This innovative movement was patented by IWC in 1950 and we saw the first mass production of these watches in 1952. The Pellaton winding system is still used in IWC watches today and has been improved upon ever since.

This particular IWC Calatrava in stainless steel is simply stunning with a nonsense design. The dressy Calatrava case and dial design pairs excellently with the utilitarian stainless steel material. This watch makes for a highly reliable daily wearer, that is designed to last.

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent case has been lightly polished in the past and retains, long full, and symmetrical lugs. The case retains its original IWC "fish logo" crown. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap. 

DIAL & HANDS

The original "pie-pan" dial has achieved a beautiful warm patina and exhibits a charming textured patina throughout. The lume plots have taken on a handsome aged patina, under U.V. light inspection the left of the two 12 o'clock lume plots is mostly missing, the rest of the lume plots remains fully intact. The original dauphine hands have aged slightly lighter than the dial and exhibit no degradation under U.V. light inspection.

ACCESSORIES 

None. The watch is running in perfect working condition, additional service history is unknown.
